Trion Worlds have confirmed the previously announced closed beta weekend for their upcoming Defiance 2050. It will run from 20 to 22 April 2018 and will be PC exclusive. Console beta was also planned but had to be postponed to a later date.
Defiance 2050's official Twitter is flowing with disgruntled console enthusiasts right now, following Trion Worlds' announcement that the console beta will be postponed. They have noted that the date change is due to an attempt to bring the best possible experience for all players and the new date for console beta will be "communicated" to the players.
PC players will get to try the game out for the first time without any hitches though. Another tweet confirmed that screenshots, video capture and livestreaming will all be allowed to any beta testers. On top of that, Trion Worlds are even offering incentives to YouTube, Twitch and any other content creators.
This promotion may help any channels and sites who are promoting Trion Worlds and their games by giving content creators giveaway codes, promotion on Trion Worlds social media, event invitations and such. Details can be found on Trion Worlds' official site .
This is good news for any players who might not get to participate in the beta, since Twitch and YouTube VoDs will be a perfect opportunity to glimpse into the game and judge if it's changed enough from the original to warrant their attention.
Trion Worlds have already announced that the beta will not have any PvP components, but it is safe to say that shotgun bunny hopping will make a return in Defiance 2050. It will be interesting to see how it works with the new class system though, since players will no longer be restricted to same abilities anymore.
In case you didn't sign up for the beta but something piqued your interest along the way, you can still do so on this site . Chances of jumping into the next weekend may be slim, but not impossible.
