Sony's E3 press conference saw the release of a fresh trailer for Resident Evil 2: Remake. The official release date is 25 January 2018. Capcom's remake will feature new visuals alongside a retelling of the original story back from 1998.

Capcom have released the first teaser for Resident Evil 2's remake back in 2015, and now at E3 2018 we got to see the first trailer for the actual game which is scheduled to arrive in January 2019. The survival horror game was originally released back in 1998.

Instead of a gameplay demo, we got to see a trailer that provided at least some information about the remake. The trailer shows Leon looking better than ever and he is back in Raccoon City. We are treated to what seems to be point of view of a rat, with some background dialogue and Leon's first kill on display. The remake, if the trailer is to be taken at face value, is going to be much more gruesome and eerie than the original title. With players back in the zombie-infested streets of Raccoon city, they will be welcomed with a fresh retelling of the original story.

Resident Evil 2's remake will only be playable in the third person perspective. One of the biggest changes coming with the remake will be focused around character changes. Claire and Leon will receive fresh new stories with both having their individual campaigns. Capcom USA have said that "Both characters will be playable through separate storylines, each bringing with them a unique perspective on the game’s events as their paths intertwine to tell the complete tale of Resident Evil 2."

We had the chance to see the RE engine in action, and the developers are apparently aiming to implement photorealistic visuals. Zombies will now react instantly when they receive damage from a visible source making them more dangerous. Ammo starvation may be taking center stage again as far as designing the game's difficulty curve goes. The mechanic has been somewhat forgotten several times during the series long run.

Remastering a Resident Evil game has proven to be quite profitable for Capcom back in 2015. Pre-orders for the second round of remaking are already available but the official release will be happening on 25 January 2019. The game is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
