Data miners have done their part with Zane, the Operator class from Borderlands 3. His active and passive skills have been revealed but Gearbox Software didn't pass up on the chance to troll the data miners with a bipedal gun art piece.
As per usual, Zane will have three talent trees - Doubled Agent, Under Cover and Hitman. The difference with Borderlands 3 is that each playable character will have three action skills instead of one like in the previous games and Zane will be able to equip up to two of them at the same time, depending on the chosen talent trees.
Doubled Agent tree will grant Zane access to Digi-Clone which will remind many fans of Zer0's active skill from Borderlands 2. It will spawn a holographic clone that will distract enemies but Zane will not go invisible as Zer0 did. Instead, his clone will fire at enemies and the Operator can switch his place with the clone's at the press of a button.
Under Cover will provide Zane with Barrier that can be placed on the battlefield. Players will be able to shoot through it for double damage on the enemies while the opponents' bullets will stop upon hitting the projected wall. The wall, however, can be changed into a dome with an action augment that will protect Zane and his allies from all sides while also providing double damage whichever direction they fire in.
Hitman tree will grant access to SNTNL drone, which we will call Sentinel from now on. Deploying the drone will make it shoot enemies of its own choosing but activating it again will cause Sentinel to attack Zane's target instead.
Further augments will allow Sentinel to shoot elemental damage, causing various effects on enemies, such as increasing the damage they take or freezing them in place.
also provided a great overview of Zane's passive skills and action augments that you can preview but full numbers are not available yet due to many talents having multiple tiers. Still, the available preview will provide enough insight in the playstyle of Zer0's pal from the super assassin school.
