New World has officially launched today and judging by the numbers on Steam, the game is off to a great start. The game is currently sitting at over 600k concurrent players.
Amazon Game Studios have today launched their long-awaited MMORPG New World on the PC platform via Steam and it seems that the members of the PC community are pretty excited to start exploring the land of Aeternum.
According to the data on SteamDB , Amazon's new title currently sits at 628,734 and the number is constantly rising. This is surely considered a successful launch, at least in terms of player count.
And while New World has certainly attracted a huge number of players, the reviews on Steam are a bit low. At the moment, players are review bombing the game due to huge server queues. Players reportedly huge 5000+ player queues, which certainly is not a good look for Amazon, a company that basically focuses on hosting and cloud computing among other things.
These are of course just launch day issues and New World is not the first nor the last game that will have large server queues. If anything, this is a good sign that players are indeed interested in New World and we are hopeful that after the initial server troubles are fixed, those review scores will start climbing back up.
New World is available now, exclusively on PC.
