Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew has a crew that is designed to work well with each other but some of them are better at certain tasks than others and some synergise better than others do.
Here is a quick rundown on what Aphia Manecato, your first crew member, does, how to use her abilities to the best effect and who she synergises best with.
Aphia's abilities
Aphia's most used ability will be Blink, the teleport strike that closes the distance and kills enemies in a very efficient manner. You can later upgrade it to extend its range but this limits the number of its uses. It takes five seconds to play out the kill animation.
The other ability of note is Time Freeze, which will render an enemy unable to do anything for 5.5 seconds.
Her basic Melee Kill ability also takes five seconds to complete.
Aphia's synergies
Red Marley's Navigator is a versatile character who can attack multiple enemies on her own, start synchronised attacks or even act as a support if necessary with the biggest downside being the long time it takes her to finish off an opponent.
As such, she works extremely well with all members of the crew but here are some of my favourite pairings.
Toya
Aphia and Toya can clear entire maps on their own. The cook's Katashiro ability works perfectly with Aphia's Blink as they can instantly kill two enemies. Should a third enemy be close to the two victims, you can add Time Freeze to the mix, which will allow either Toya or Aphia to kill the third enemy before they can react at all.
In the rare scenario that enemies travel in packs bigger than three, Bird's Voice ability will allow you to lure as many enemies away as you like, making them easy pickings for the extremely lethal duo.
Teresa
The biggest downside of Aphia is her long time to kill, which can lead to her being discovered before she finishes the animation or hides the body. This is why Teresa is a perfect fit for playing with Aphia. Her Judgement abilities are perfect for cleaning up any mess Aphia makes.
If an enemy is about to spot her, just have Teresa shoot them. With Teresa's upgrade, this tactic becomes even better because Aphia can then pick up the bolt so the old raven doesn't have to walk all the way there to get another lethal shot.
Should you find yourself in a situation where Teresa's bolt is unreachable for the time being and Aphia is about to get spotted, the Ashen Judgement will work just fine to give her enough time to hide before the alarm is raised.
Gaelle
Apha can climb vines but she can't swim. That means Gaelle is perfect for getting her across obstacles that would otherwise be insurmountable.
Even if Gaelle were to use her cannon with an enemy in it, she would still work extremely well with Aphia as this allows for more synchronised kills than before.
While the canon lady is a great addition to the Navigator's abilities, she still lacks a bit compared to Teresa and I would highly suggest running the Aphia-Toya-Teresa trio in all situations.
