Quake dev says battle royale is nothing new

Studio director of the legendary developer id Software, Tim Willits recently commented how battle royale is nothing new and that Quake already had a similar concept through community mods, before adding that copying others gets you nowhere.

Quake Champions getting a massive update

Bethesda and id Software's shooter Quake Champions has received a hefty update that adds a bottomless QuakeTM map called Longest Yard along with arcade modes, Trespasser shotgun skin and a host of champion balance changes and tweaks.

We can't say we didn't see it coming but it doesn't even matter now as Quake Champions is going proper free to play and even though id Software's already touting Champion packs, you should be able to grind all of them out for free.

Id Software's latest update for Quake Champions is bringing back two things - recently removed and now revamped bots and a new champion, an old face from the first instalment of Quake - the Death Knight. However, he seems to be undead now.

Bethesda and id Software have announced temporary removal of bots and their subsequent return in Quake Champions' different modes, but they are now pressing the attack by announcing even more modes for regular PvP, such as Capture the Flag.

Quake Champions removing bots from the game

Folks at Bethesda have announced that bots will be removed from matchmade games in Quake Champions, on 26 July 2018. This change should arrive at the same time with the Skill Rating reset and is first in line of more changes to bots.

Bethesda and id Software have updated their take on Overwatch known as Quake Champions, adding a new map called the Molten Falls, rename tokens, upgraded user interface tutorial, competitive play requirements and a host of balance changes.

Quake Champions is still in beta, but that shouldn't stop Bethesda and ESL from starting a tournament for the game with a $1 million prize pool. Duel mode qualifications for Europe are starting today.

The Quake Champions beta is currently running through the Behtesda.net launcher exclusively, but the complete game will be available entirely through Steam once it launches. A Bethesda account will still be necessary.

Why BJ Blazkowicz has no business being in Quake Champions

BJ Blazkowicz's presence in Quake Champions is a cross-promotion stunt, no doubt about it. This says a great deal about the way ZeniMax and Bethesda treat the various IPs under their corporate umbrella. Why not add a Vault Tech themed deck to Elder Scrolls Legends while you are at it?
