Destiny 2 will receive its largest expansion pack yet with new missions, parts of the Reef we haven't seen, weapons and more in hopes to revive Destiny 2. Apart from the new content, Bungie is changing how the in-game purchases work.
Bungie and Activision gave us a nine-minute video explaining the thought process behind the upcoming expansion releasing later this year. Part of the team in the video talks about how they wanted to add more content influenced by the player base, which seems to be in line with their recent efforts for Destiny's .
Forsaken aims to add a western vibe influenced by sinister and dark themes. The story starts of with you and Cayed-6 exploring an organised escape by the most notorious criminals from the Elder Prison, better known as Barons.
With Year 2 content comes a new part of the Reef named Tangled Shores. Besides the new map, Forsaken will add The Dreaming City, a part of the Reef which will evolve with the surroundings through various Raids.
Forsaken expansion will be third and the largest one yet since the release of the game back in 2017. One of the biggest issues for Bungie has been repetitive yet somewhat tedious in-game loop without giving players something new to be rewarded with. With the new story and missions, developers said they're hoping to have some of the old players coming back.
Biggest changes to the game are new and updated weapons along with powers that community craved for. In my honest opinion, some of the new powers look interesting enough to check out. It seems like Bungie realised that this might be the last straw for Destiny 2.
With aforementioned weapons, comes the Bow which comes in three varieties a low, mid, and long range. Admist the upgraded weapons the most interesting addition to the game is the new powers players will be able to unlock.
Paying for the in-game content won't be the same either as developers aim to release more of it through the Annual Pass. That's in sharp contrast to their earlier method, where simply owning the expansion gave you the ability to unlock new things in the game.
As you would expect, you'll have to pay more. However, it seems Bungie is doing the same thing they did with the first Destiny game. They also said how the Annual Pass would not include the classic DLC's. The new content will be arriving in three seasons the 2018 winter, 2019 spring and summer.
Destiny 2: Forsaken will arrive on 04 September 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
