Riot Games announced the first equivalent of a world championship in Teamfight Tactics. It will be held at the end of the Galaxies, meaning there are just a few months before it happens.
Teamfight Tactics Galaxies Championship has been suddenly announced by Riot Games on 13 April 2020. The prize pool will be $200,000, making it much lower than that of League of Legends but it's also twice the size of LoL's first World Championship . However, this prize pool is quite hefty, considering the frequency of global championships.
According to the announcement , Riot Games are planning to have one championship at the end of each set so these global competitions will be happening more frequently than just once a year.
Since the event is not due for another few months, there will be plenty of time for the most gifted TFT players to qualify for the prestigious event. A total of sixteen players from across the world will qualify through their regional ladder rankings and competitions.
For example, the North America Final will happen mid-August 2020 where sixteen players will compete in order to become one of the two that will represent the region in the Galaxies Championship.
Starting in the first week of May 2020 and ending in the last week of July 2020, Riot Games will take weekly snapshots of the players' standings on the ladder where players will earn points based on the rank. Top 10 will qualify for Final.
Starting in May 2020, several online tournaments will be organised and those that place at the top will have a chance to qualify with the remainder of the seats being reserved for partner qualification events in June and July 2020.
