Square Enix's JRPG Octopath Traveler, that is currently available exclusively on Nintendo Switch is coming to PC on 07 June 2019 according to a deleted blog post. Apparently, the PC version will arrive to both Square Enix Store and Steam.
Earlier this month, a Korean Rating board on their site, suggesting that the Nintendo Switch exclusive could soon arrive to PC. The game was rated by The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea and the only change from the original version was that Bandai Namco would publish the game instead of Nintendo.
These ratings are usually solid information on the upcoming games, and this time it's no different. Judging by a deleted blog post from Square Enix, Octopath Traveler is indeed coming to PC on 07 June 2019.
According to the announcement, that was copied by Gematsu before it went dark, the developer plan to release the JRPG on both Steam and Square Enix Store. "We have some very exciting news for PC gamers. Octopath Traveler is coming to Steam on June 7, 2019! So, yknow, add it to your Wishlist now," it's written in the announcement.
Unfortunately, the post doesn't mention if PC players will get some additional content, or if the game will support features such as higher frame rates or HDR.
Octopath Traveler was originally released on Switch back in July 2018 and it's one of the best selling games on the console. It features a unique, retro Super NES-style character sprites and textures combined with polygonal environments and high-definition effects.
It's set in the world of Osterra and it puts you in control of 8 unique heroes - each with their own skillset, motivations and storylines. You can start the game as one of the eight available characters and build your party in any order you want.
Each one has a distinct class, and unique Path Actions - abilities they can use out of combat to progress their adventure. For example, some characters can steal items from NPCs or start a scrap with pretty much anyone while others can tame wild beasts.
Octopath Traveler received positive reviews on its release and it currently stands at 83 Metascore and 8.5 User score on Metacritic.
