Tactical Adventures released the Solasta: Crown of the Magister demo that will be available during the weekend, until 23 March 2020. Considering it's an aspiring turn-based RPG, it's as good time as any to give it a whirl.
Solasta: Crown of the Magister is a crowdfunded RPG adventure that is set for release in early 2021. However, the developers also released a demo that was previously available but it's now up again on Steam. All you need to do is download the game and give it a try.
Keep in mind this is just a demo for a yet unreleased game and as such, it may not reflect the final product's quality. On top of that, it is not a free to keep kind of offer either and potential players will still have to purchase Solasta once it's released.
Naturally, this is not the case with Kickstarter backers of tiers that provide a copy of the game. If you are looking for a free game to keep, there are five games running a free to keep promotion at the same time as this demo is running.
Regarding the demo, those who played back in September 2019 will not find anything new with this one as it's the exact same build. Players who are entering anew will have several things to look forward to.
Solasta emphasises verticality and by doing so offers many new tactical possibilities. Height can offer an advantage that gets your part out of an encounter in good health but that's not all of the new systems Tactical Adventures are putting in.
Light itself will be a valuable resource in the dark dungeons where the game takes place and using it can be to the party's great advantage or detriment, depending on how careful you are.
