Sony has finally launched a feature that allows users to write in-depth reviews on the PlayStation Store. Sony has rolled out a new update for the PlayStation Store, enabling users to write full written reviews for PS4 and PS5 games.
Up to 4,000 words, this new addition is a welcome improvement to the PlayStation Store’s interface, and bears a striking resemblance to Steam’s long-running review feature.
Previously, users could only give a game one to five stars on the PlayStation Store. With this new update, PlayStation fans can now post their reviews, writing up their impressions and gameplay experiences next to the star rating. If reviewers wish to, they can also include a spoiler warning with their review.
A Step Toward Community Transparency
The feature’s launch comes at a perfect time for PlayStation fans, with 2025 already bringing an unprecedented number of incredible releases for the platform.
In the past few weeks, the recently launched Ghost of Yotei continues to trend, and the title has received nothing but praise both from critics and the gaming community.
Death Stranding 2 remains one of the biggest GOTY contenders, and PS Plus users can play new games like Alan Wake 2, Cocoon, and Goat Simulator 3 for free.
What This Means for PlayStation Users
Sony’s embrace of written reviews for its platform is a significant gesture, showing the company’s increasingly open mind to user feedback and community engagement.
Taking a page out of Steam’s book, PlayStation users are able to write in-depth reviews for any game on the platform, which may include not only thoughts on the game, but their experiences of gameplay, comparisons to other titles, and even opinions on updates and patches.
The new feature has quickly become popular, even in the early days of its limited availability, with Ghost of Yotei having over a dozen passionate reviews.
