Hi-Rez Studios, the developers behind Smite, are taking their latest game into open beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The fantasy team-based shooter is now free to download.
Paladins, the latest project by Smite's developer Hi-Rez Studios is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in its open beta form. The game is a third-person shooter and it has been dubbed an Overwatch clone. Paladins feature 24 heroes, ahem, more than heroes: Champions, that are fully customisable via a card loadout system.
Take a gander at the official trailer and be the judge yourself, but the similarities between Overwatch and Paladins are more than extreme. Granted, this could all be one major coincidence, but I digress.
Back to Paladins. The game has been available on PC through Steam's early access since 16 September 2016. Paladins has been very popular on Steam, and enough so, to make the devs proclaim it to be the "most-played new Steam game of 2016". It is currently in the top 15.
To get the game on PlayStation 4, log into the PlayStation Store and download the game, free of charge. To celebrate the arrival of the Open Beta to PS4 and Xbox One, Hi-Rez are hosting a Double Gold weekend which will run until 07 May.
There is even a Founder's Pack available. That means that, for £15.99, you can unlock all 24 available Champions. Also, when you buy the Founder's Pack, you get bonus items and every champion released from now until the end of time will be yours for free. There's already a new character, a healer called Seris, Oracle of the Abyss, set to appear in the Realm during the course of the next couple of weeks.
