FoxNext officially confirmed that an Alien themed MMO shooter is in the works by Cold Iron Studios. The info comes just after the announcement of mobile game Alien: Blackout which disappointed some fans expecting an Alien Isolation sequel.

After the announcement of Alien: Blackout, which didn't go well with some fans, FoxNext shared additional info about another Alien game that could potentially excite disappointed fans.

First, they clarified via the Alien franchise Twitter that there is still more to come with the usual read, play, watch and Amanda Ripley hashtags. After that, they ended the Alien: Blackout press release with a confirmation that Cold Iron Studios is currently working on a new Alien game.

"FoxNext Games’ studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also currently at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles and PC," is written in the press release.

The info about Alien MMO is not completely new as the developer shared some cryptic messages in 2018 which suggested that an online shooter set in Alien universe is in the making. With the official confirmation, fans will at least know what to expect as some of them were really rooting for an Alien Isolation sequel as Alien: Blackout rumours started to surface in December 2018.

It will be interesting to see just how the Alien universe will work in the MMO genre. It's possible that Cold Iron Studios' game could feature PVP where players can take the role of Alien and hunt other players over the space station and vice-versa. Unfortunately, details are scarce at the moment so all of this is laced with speculation.

Hopefully, FoxNext soon reveals something concrete and given that they founded Cold Iron Studios in 2015 to work on the game, it's safe to assume that the Alien MMO project is pretty far in development so more info could be imminent.

One thing to keep in mind though is that the franchise's Twitter confirmed more content for 2019, so that could be one of the hints for a potential Alien MMO release date.

All in all, there will be no shortage of Alien games in the future and while an MMO shooter may not be the game fans were hoping for, it might still turn out to be an interesting outing.
