NetEase's Marvel Rivals has brought hero shooters back on the map. The 6v6 hero shooter has managed to capture the hearts of millions of players with explosive gameplay and original Marvel characters.
While Marvel Rivals is adored by fans all around the world, there's an unfortunate issue that has been hindering the enjoyment of the game for many players. This unfortunate issue is the use of in-game voice chat for toxicity.
There have been countless reports of toxicity over the game's in-game voice chat, especially towards women and young children playing the game. To counter all forms of toxicity, NetEase has decided to record all in-game voice chat in Marvel Rivals to crack down on toxicity after the Season 3.5 update goes live.
All In-Game Voice Chat in Marvel Rivals will now be recorded
According to Marvel Rivals game director Guangguang, with the season 3.5 update there will be major overhauls to the in-game reporting system. Once the update goes live across all platforms, all in-game voice chat in Marvel Rivals will be recorded for monitoring player behaviour.
The recorded voice chat will be reviewed by a human once NetEase receives a complaint against a player. Players who are reported multiple times for abusing the in-game voice chat will receive suspension or temporary bans to counter toxic behaviour.
However, players who have their voice chat disabled at all times will not be recorded. If your mic is enabled or used through push-to-talk in the game, then your audio will be recorded by the game. The audio recordings will then be used as evidence if you are reported by other players for abusing the voice chat.
While Guangguang has not shared what punishments will be implemented for toxicity over chat, players can expect to lose their voice chat feature for repeated offences and, in extreme cases, a permanent ban from the game.
