Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a prequel to the successful Life is Strange graphic adventure game from 2015. The story in the new game will see Arcadia Bay three years before the events of the first title came to pass.
Life is about to get a bit stranger this summer as Square Enix recently announced that all of us will be pulling a Max and travelling back in time. As a part of their Xbox E3 Briefing, the company revealed a new cinematic trailer for the upcoming graphic adventure game - a prequel to the episodic Life is Strange from 2015.
There will be three episodes in total, with the first launching for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 31 August 2017. Life is Strange: Before the Storm will be set in Arcadia Bay, and its story will take place three years before the storm (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) from the first game.

In the upcoming game, you'll be taking on the role of a "rebellious" 16 year-old Chloe Price. She starts hanging out with Rachel Amber, "a beautiful and popular girl destined for success". When the pretty girl's world "is turned upside down by a family secret, it takes this new-found alliance to give each other the strength to overcome their demons."
Lee Singleton, Head of Studio at Square Enix London Studios said in the press release: "Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a key release for Square Enix this year and is being created as a direct response to fans asking to return to Arcadia Bay so they can revisit the characters they fell in love with".

He continued: "Many people can identify a particular person who significantly influenced their life; the person that ultimately shaped who they became. Life is Strange: Before the Storm is about this exact moment."
Life is Strange: Before the Storm will be a great opportunity to get to know Rachel a little better. I wonder, will the time rewind mechanic be available in this title, and if the answer is no, what will take its place.
The first released game in the series was created by Dontnod Entertainment from Paris, and Life is Strange: Before the Storm is under development by Denver based studio, Deck Nine Games.

Jeff Litchford, Vice President at Deck Nine Games said: "The original Life is Strange brought a new level of depth and real-world emotion to the narrative adventure game genre and holds a strong place in many people’s hearts, including our own".
He added: "It’s an absolute privilege to work on the next game in the series and it’s our chance to do justice to the series and prove the quality of our unique StoryForge toolset from our very talented team."
Update: Square Enix just released the very first gameplay footage video. The video shows three scenes from the upcoming game's first episode titled "Awake". The first scene takes us to an abandoned mill on the outskirts of Arcadia Bay where Chloe has managed to gain entry to an illegal concert.
The second takes place later in the episode where Chloe and Rachel have spent the day together in another brand new environment called The Overlook, and the third, which is also the final scene, will take the girls back to an important area from the first game.
Again, the game is coming to Xbox, PS4 and PC and the first of the three episodes will be released on 31 August 2017. Check out the new footage:
