Konami have announced three Anniversary Collections of classic games that will arrive to PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Contra and Castlevania collections don't have a release date but Arcade is coming soon.
Arcade Anniversary Collection will debut on 18 April 2019 and it will contain eight games, just like the other two collections. The games in question are Haunted Castle, Typhoon (A-JAX), Nemesis (Gradius), Vulcan Venture 2 (Gradius II), Life Force (Salamander), Thunder Cross, Scramble and TwinBee. The plane and spacecraft shooter dominated collection can be previewed on .
is due at some point during "early summer" of 2019 so this collection is not that far away either. It will feature Contra, Super Contra, Super C, Contra III: The Alien Wars and four additional games that are currently unannounced.
took a similar approach, with the same release window and just four out of eight revealed games. Castlevania, Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse and Super Castlevania IV have been revealed so far.
These anniversary collections are a part of Konami's 50th anniversary celebration and the Arcade one will cost $19,99. The other two collections' price tags have not been revealed yet and it is currently unknown how the regional pricing will work. PC users in Europe will likely have the €19,99 / £17,49 price tags for Arcade Anniversary Collection.
One common trait these collections will have is the fact they will all be available only in digital form so those who are looking for physical copies that could be valuable collectables in the future will remain empty handed.
On the other hand, those with limited bandwidth shouldn't worry too much as these are all games from old systems and downloading all three collections together shouldn't take much more than a handful megabytes. Downloading 4K wallpapers is more demanding these days.
