Square Enix are wrapping up Final Fantasy XV's story with the last DLC dubbed Episode Ardyn, dropping on 26 March 2019. The story of the DLC is set 35 years before the main game and it follows Ardyn on his quest to destroy Crown City.

Final Fantasy XV's story is coming to an end with the final Episode Ardyn DLC scheduled to release for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 26 March 2019. Square Enix confirmed this in a new animated short which serves as a prologue for events in the DLC.

If you played Final Fantasy XV, you're probably familiar with Ardyn and his role, but, those who are yet to finish the story should be aware that some of the descriptions below may contain spoilers.

Episode Ardyn is set 35 years before the main game's story, and it puts players into the shoes of the game’s arch-villain Ardyn who embarks on a quest to "take revenge upon the Kingdom of Lucis".

Ardyn's adventure will include many familiar faces, only much younger, as well as "essential new characters" such as the scientist Verstael Besithia and the priestess Aera Mirus Fleuret.

With Ardyn as a playable character, the new DLC will look to introduce new combat mechanics focused on his new magic and abilities. Ardyn will be able to deploy Shadow Move which gives him the ability to move around at high speeds while his Daemonification ability can transform enemies making them completely powerless.

Judging by the short gameplay footage which can be seen after the animated short, Ardyn won't have a problem with dealing crazy amounts of damage to enemies, he is the final boss in Final Fantasy XV after all.

The new expansion will be available to season pass owners and also as an individual purchase. Square Enix didn't reveal prices but judging by earlier DLCs, the price should be around $5.

Episode Ardyn was originally announced as the fourth of seven Final Fantasy XV expansions. Other planned episodes included Anarea, Lunafreye and Noctis but shortly after the game director Hajime Tabata left Luminous Productions and Square Enix, the publisher announced that all episodes after Ardyn would be canceled.
