Lootbox crackdowns are taking their sweet time and EA is still making a killing with them, as evidenced by the latest deal with EPL.

Electronic Arts are about to pay out a pile of money for the rights on English Premier League teams and players, who will be used in future EA FC titles.

For those not in the loop, EA FC is just a renamed FIFA series due to the latter ending their partnership with EA.

According to SkySports , EA will pay half a million pounds to the EPL, which is a disgusting sum, especially when you consider this is just one of the leagues featured in the game.

So why is EA dropping the massive sum of money, seemingly out of the blue. It is actually not a new deal but an extension of the existing one, where EPL will remain the company's partner for the next six years.

This means that the rights to for EA FC games will be secured on top of EA branding being present during EPL matches via referee jerseys, advertising and more.

Due to the additional benefits of the partnership, it is safe to assume EA is not paying as much for the other big leagues in Europe and while roughly $580 million sounds ridiculous, it is only a tiny fraction of what the FIFA Ultimate Team rakes in.

After all, it managed to gain $1.6 billion in revenue back in 2021.
