EA might be planning to bring back one of their iconic sports franchises according to rumours. Apparently, the publisher have a special announcement for July 20, 2021.
Electronic Arts probably have one of the biggest sports IP portfolios in the gaming industry, which are just lying around, waiting to be revived. Franchises like NBA Live , NBA Street, Fight Night, NCAA, SSX and we could even consider Def Jam for this category.
However, it's been a long time since EA released a game from the above-mentioned series, focusing instead on what works best for them in terms of revenue - FIFA, Madden and NHL.
Last year, we've heard rumblings that a new Def Jam game could be coming and even the official Twitter of the iconic record label teased a "special announcement" but we're still waiting to hear anything regarding that.
Today, we have another rumour, stating that EA Sports might be planning to bring back one of their iconic sports franchises with a special announcement scheduled for July 20, 2021.
Whether this is the Def Jam game, which Def Jam Recordings teased last year, it remains to be seen. We would bet on this iconic fighter or perhaps, a new NBA Live game - EA have been trying to bring back their basketball simulation for a while now.
Keep in mind that this is just speculation for now but luckily, we won't have to wait for months and months, since the rumoured announcement is coming later this month. We'll know if this is legit or fake in just a couple of weeks. Until then, take everything with a grain of salt.
