Call of Duty: WWII is 2017's Xmas number one. The franchise has now matched the number of Xmas number ones set by EA’s ‘FIFA’. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds for Xbox One debuted at number four. Super Mario Odyssey claimed the title of the top-selling Switch Santa title.
'Tis the season for Call of Duty: WWII to officially claim the Xmas number one on the 2017 UK sales chart. This is the fourth year in a row a game from the Call of Duty franchise has earned the prestigious title.
The fact Call Of Duty: WWII had been occupying that same spot ever since it was released is a different accomplishment entirely, and frankly, makes the Xmas one that much more special. Call of Duty (this is probably the last time you'll read those words in this article) has now matched the total of Xmas number ones set by EA’s ‘FIFA’.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds for Xbox One couldn't break into the top tree, so it landed at number four and claimed it as its rightful debut spot. PUBG's Xbox One version ran into some along the way, and that might be part of the reason it failed to rank a bit higher.
Assassin's Creed Origins stayed at number five this week, and Super Mario Odyssey claimed the title of the top-selling Switch Santa title. WWE 2K18 also held on to its position, mainly thanks to the new Switch version. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy round off the top ten.
The top 10 looks like this:
1. Call of Duty WWII
2. FIFA 18
3. Star Wars: Battlefront II
4. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
5. Assassin's Creed Origins
6. Super Mario Odyssey
7. Grand Theft Auto V
8. WWE 2K18
9. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
10. Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
