Borderlands 3 will offer a pile of content to play through and will stay true to the series' legacy it seems as the creative director Paul Sage confirmed. Even skimming content will take you more than a day, standing at 30 hours of story.
Borderlands 3 will take about 30 hours to complete even if you "beeline it through" according to Paul Sage who added that the aforementioned time will be necessary to simply go through the main story.
Considering the nature of Borderlands games, going through the story at the recommended level will still include doing some side content although grinding was never as tedious as in some other titles or was well obfuscated.
According to the report by , the campaign length is right in line with the content that was provided by previous entries in the franchise, so if you are used to what Borderlands and Borderlands 2 had to offer, Borderlands 3 should not disappoint.
Given that 30 hours is an approximation of the time needed to complete by skimming the content, it is highly likely Borderlands 3 will take at least twice as long to finish if you play the game for the enjoyment of it as opposed to rushing and seeing how quickly you can go through the content.
Completionists will probably take much longer, with over 100 hours needed to get it all done and since Gearbox had an affinity to add campaign DLC content in the past, Borderlands 3 should be no exception.
This means more hours will be sunk in the looter shooter with further DLC but this will require additional payment unless you bought one of the more expensive editions that have the Season Pass that includes the four campaign DLC packs.

Preordering is still a questionable decision so make sure you actually want the content before you find yourself in another story marathon with Grandma Flexington. Speaking of which, it would be great to see the explosive muscle heads once again but we suspect Tediore will overshadow Torgue. It's hard to match walking guns after all.
