CD Projekt Red is a Polish video game developer and publisher headquartered in Warsaw, founded as a development division of CD Projekt in February 2002 by Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński, who had originally established CD Projekt in May 1994 as a video game distributor importing and translating Western titles for the Polish market. 

The studio grew out of a cancelled Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance PC port, with the code repurposed into The Witcher, an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy novel series released in October 2007. That game's success transformed CD Projekt from a niche Polish distributor into one of the most recognised RPG studios in the world. The company is publicly listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, with Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński remaining among its largest individual shareholders. CD Projekt Red now employs over 1,000 people across its Warsaw headquarters and a growing hub in Boston, Massachusetts, established to support North American development operations.

The studio's catalogue spans two of the most acclaimed RPG franchises in the medium. The Witcher series, comprising three mainline RPGs and the card game Gwent, has sold over 75 million copies combined, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015) widely regarded as one of the greatest games ever made and winning over 250 Game of the Year awards. 

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December 2020 to a troubled reception before a sustained two-year recovery effort transformed it into a critical and commercial success, with the Phantom Liberty expansion (2023) earning further acclaim. Projects currently in development include The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2 (codenamed Orion), a multiplayer Witcher game codenamed Sirius developed at the Boston studio, and an original IP codenamed Hadar.
