Pokemon GO will kick-start 2022 with the first Community Day of the year featuring Spheal, the Clap Pokemon. The tickets for the Special Research story will go on sale at a later date.
Out with the old and in with the new! Pokemon GO Community Day in January 2022 will feature none other than Spheal, the Clap Pokemon. Here are all the details we know so far.
Pokemon GO - January 2022 Community Day
The first Community Day of the new year will happen on Sunday, January 16, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
Featured Pokemon
Spheal and its Shiny version will be appearing more frequently in the wild.
Exclusive Attack
Evolve Sealeo (Spheal’s Evolution) during the event to get a Walrein that knows the Charged Attack Icicle Spear and Fast Attack Powder Snow. You can evolve Sealeo two hours after the event has ended and still get a Walrein that knows the special attacks.

This low-energy Charged Attack is making its Pokemon GO debut during the upcoming Community Day.
- Trainer Battles: 60 damage
- Gyms and raids: 60 damage

Community Day Special Research Story: The Spheal Deal
Tickets for the Special Research Story, The Spheal Deal will be available for purchase (US$1.00 or your county's equivalent) at a later date. Tickets are nonrefundable and this Special Research will not include an in-game medal.

- Incense activated during the event will last for three hours
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day.

- There’ll be a special one-time-purchase Community Day Box available for 1,280 PokeCoins. The box will contain 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, five Lucky Eggs and an Elite Fast TM.
