Palworld's survival mechanics are very straightforward. Like the players, any Pals in your base must maintain hunger and SAN or Sanity levels.
Pals can manage their hunger independently if you create a proper farming system. However, managing their SAN depends on how you manage your base infrastructures. If you're struggling to manage the SAN of your Pals, then here's a quick guide for you.
How to Manage Pal SAN in Palworld
Pal SAN or Sanity is attached to all Pals in your base or your Palbox. The max level of SAN is 100, it depletes depending on the working condition and Pal traits. The optimal level of SAN is between 80-100, anything below the minimum threshold will affect the workflow of your Pals.
The first thing you must make sure of after deploying Pals to your base is to build beds. There must be an equivalent bed for every Pal working in your base. Without a bed, the Pals lose their sanity rapidly.
Keep an eye on the Feedbox, and fill it up with food. If you have a Berry Plantation or Wheat Plantation, assign a Pal with Transporting efficiency to ensure the harvested food reaches the Feed Box. If you're in a good position in the game, we recommend catching a Woolipop from the wild and assigning it to your Ranch for Cotton Candy drops.
Cotton Candy is an excellent item for raising SAN. Each Cotton Candy gives 5 SAN points to all types of Pal once it has eaten it from the feed box.
The most important thing for maintaining SAN levels is the Hot Spring. You must have a Hot Spring in your base as it raises the SAN level as Pals rest. The High-Quality Hot Spring boosts your Pal SAN levels even further once unlocked.
As for other methods of maintaining SAN levels, you can feed your high-quality food items, which is very time-consuming no matter how efficient your Pals are. So, if you're struggling with Pal SAN, try checking if your feed box is stocked properly or if your Pal is stuck somewhere.
