Paladins developers calling out Blizzard for apparent hero plagiarism

After years of people claiming Paladins copied Overwatch, Hi-Rez Studios president Stew Chisam has accused Blizzard of plagiarism by saying the new hero Brigitte looks almost identical to Paladins' hero Ash.

'Sombra' patch now live in Overwatch, and it's on purpose

Overwatch's live servers got a new patch. The update tweaked Mei, Doomfist and Mercy a bit, and made some bigger changes to Sombra. Players will have to get used to slower EMP charges and stop relying on the Ult ability as much.

Overwatch's upcoming hero could be Torbjorn's daughter form Honor and Glory

After teasing Emre Sarioglu and Dr Harold, Blizzard have doubled down on Operation White Dome. This time, we got a letter sent by an injured Torbjorn to his pregnant wife. The letter informs her that Reinhardt will be the girl's godfather.

Overwatch has teased a new hero, just in time for the Uprising event

Overwatch has started teasing a new hero. Hero 27 could go live in the game at the end of March, just like Orisa did in 2017. Overwatch's Twitter account shared a photo of a declassified report that mentions a new name - Emre Sarioglu.

Twitch giving away items to Overwatch League viewers but charging for Twitch emotes

Twitch's reward system will start giving away League Tokens to viewers who tune in to Overwatch League's Stage 2. The tokens can be used to purchase in-game skins. Additional skins and Twitch emotes are available in exchange for Bits.

Overwatch will host a Puppy Rumble

Overwatch is hosting a Puppy Rumble, an event inspired Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl and the game being in the middle of Lunar New Year celebrations. A teaser showing puppies dressed as Overwatch heroes has been shared on the game's Twitch channel.

Overwatch's Year of the Dog event

Overwatch's Year of the Dog event is going to have a map dedicated to the CTF game mode. The mode's rules have been somewhat revised and last year's draws will not be making a comeback. The CTF competitive season will reward the top 500 players with a special spray and a player icon.

Overwatch patch now on PTR, instead of live

Blizzard have accidentally released a patch meant for the PTR along with their Year of the Dog Overwatch update. The changes to Sombra, Mei and Doomfist have since been moved to the PTR. The Overwatch team is looking at some changes to Hanzo's Scatter Arrow.

Overwatch's free weekend is coming up

Blizzard is throwing another free Overwatch weekend. The Weekend starts on Friday, 16 February, 2018. PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will all have access to the game's heroes, maps and The Year of the Dog Lunar Event.

Activision Blizzard up by over $4 billion

Activision Blizzard's revenue from "in-game net bookings" reached $4 (£2.90) billion for 2017. Half of the money came from Candy Crush operator, King, and the other half came via their PC and console titles. EA reported $787 million in what it calls "live services" for the latest quarter.

Sweden might ban loot boxes by 2019

Sweden has joined the legislative battle against loot boxes. The minister of civil affairs, Ardalan Shekarabi, suggested the mechanic could be banned by 2019. A study from the University of Hamburg prompted the German Youth Protection Commission to also take action.
