Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer has praised the design of PlayStation 5's DualSense controller and said companies should learn from each other, regardless of their rivalry.
The next-generation of gaming has finally arrived and many agree that both Sony and Microsoft have made amazing hardware, which is quite similar when it comes to performance in games. Of course, both consoles have their advantages and disadvantages over the other and one of the major selling points of PlayStation 5 over Xbox is the Dualsense controller.
With interesting features such as adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, it's safe to say that DualSense is truly ahead of its competitor - the Xbox controller - which kept the same design, more or less.
And it seems that DualSense is so good that even head of Xbox, Phil Spencer had to comment on it. In a recent interview with The Verge, Spencer said he applauds Sony and thinks that every tech company in the industry should learn from each other and push on and innovate for the greater good.
"I applaud what they [Sony] did with the controller, not actually for — well, I shouldn’t say not for the specifics of the controller, but more than just the specifics of the controller. I think for all of us in the industry, we should learn from each other and the innovation that we all push on, whether it’s distribution of business model like Game Pass, or controller tech, or the Wii back in the day, which clearly had an impact on us when we went off and did Kinect and Sony did the Move."
Spencer also said that the industry should be learning and growing and always find a way to bring that special, next piece of hardware to players, wether that's a controller, VR or anything.
Xbox boss certainly hit the nail on the head with these comments which is not surprising since he recently said console wars are the worst thing about the gaming industry, and many would agree with him.
