Paradox Interactive already presented the six vampire clans in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 and they kicked off faction reveals with the Pioneers. Camarilla, who appeared in the original are the second faction to have been revealed.
Camarilla are the sophisticated faction of vampires in World of Darkness that always seek to be on the top of the food chain, calling the shots for everyone who is not them. For that reason, you can usually encounter Camarilla members in places of power, such as CEOs, software moguls, bankers, venture capitalists, politicians and such.
Their affinity to this business-led lifestyle in the eternal pursuit of success led them to the top of Seattle's power ladder. Despite Pioneers having been the top dogs for a long while, it is the Camarilla who sat in the throne for the last 20 years, driving the financial success of the community into the 21st century.
The vampire on top is Prince Cross, who is described as leading an even-handed rule, with keen business sense and organisational capabilities. He tends to measure well just how much power he should give other vampires to keep them comfortable but still unable to rise against him.
Due to his nature, Cross forged alliances and helping vampires to thrive Seattle while his ultimate goal is apparently to get noticed by his elders.
As for the Camarilla in general, they have a few key traits. They are power players who thrived in Seattle more than in other communities.
Just like any other structured power hierarchy, the one of Camarilla has its internal power struggles, described as a "vicious political dance" where the words of the superiors are law, desires of one's subordinates are dust and everything one's peers do is seen as a potential threat or opportunity to find a weakness.
Fans who played the first Bloodlines will remember that Camarilla is really big on keeping the Masquerade up but they always have ulterior motives. They usually tend to be about gaining more power, which makes Camarilla predictable in that aspect at least.
