Paradox Interactive and Hardsuit Labs have showcased another Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 gameplay trailer that was slightly longer than before and gave us a glimpse of firearms combat as well as one quick quest playthrough.
Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2's new trailer showed off a quick peek into how the player character gets embraced and their subsequent confusion after waking up. Apparently, there is no hot night involved like there was in Santa Monica.
The person that gives us the basics of being a vampire is also much less charismatic than Smiling Jack but the exposition does have its moments, like when the Brujah brawler punches the player and sends them flying through a door and against a wall.
Another highlight of the trailer is when the player character enters a night club and you can see a throwback to The Asylum in the bottom left corner as the patrons dance with the same animations they did in the original game.
Continuing with the playthrough, viewers are met with the vampire parkour section while chasing a homeless vampire at the behest of a woman who is presumably the rich owner of the night club the player was in before. Once the player vampire is done with emulating Super Mario, they start showcasing more combat.
Paradox and Hardsuit Labs were upfront about the combat direction ever since Bloodlines 2 was announced - it will be melee focused, which had us on edge for a long while. Some of us actually liked using firearms in the first game.
Anyway, the combat section includes a show of some weapon usage, both melee and ranged as the player picks up a bat and a shotgun, after which they proceed to beat the opponents into a mush or make Swiss cheese out of them.
Dialogue system will be back, demonstrated once players catch up to Slug, the vampire they are chasing. Five dialogue options are shown but the interface indicates there could be more. We will see how it pans out in the final product but thankfully Bloodlines 2 doesn't have the dialogue wheel.
