A couple of weeks ago, new GTA VI rumours started to surface over at GTAForums, suggesting an imminent announcement of the new game. However, these rumours have been debunked in the meantime by a reliable gaming journalist Jason Schreier who described them as a "nonsense".
In his latest tweet, Schreier has once again mentioned the next Grand Theft Auto game. Speaking about the crunch problems at Rockstar Games and how the studio has been taking steps to tackle this problem, Schreier suggests that the next GTA game will show whether Rockstar's attempts to mitigate crunch are really successful.
However, it will be a while before we see the results of this since "the next GTA is still a ways away". Unfortunately, as you can see in the tweet below, Jason did not share any additional information about the potential reveal date.
One thing is for certain, though, Grand Theft Auto VI will not be coming anytime soon, judging by the tweet. Some earlier leaks and rumours revealed that the game could arrive sometime in late 2021 at the very earliest but 2022 is probably a more realistic date.
As for the setting and story, once again, rumours suggest that the game will be spread between Vice City and South America in the 1970s and 1980s. Apparently, Netflix's Narcos is a huge inspiration and the story will follow a small drug dealer who climbs his way up to the top of the drug empire.
