Sony have announced a new episode of State of Play for this Thursday, August 6, 2020, and it will feature a few titles that are launching on PlayStation 5.

"State of Play returns this Thursday with a focus on third-party-published games coming to PS4 and PS VR. We’ll have a few PS5 game updates on third-party and indie titles you last saw in June’s PS5 showcase", the company wrote.

The exact time is Thursday, August 6 at 1:00pm Pacific Time / 4:00pm Eastern Time / 9:00pm BST, so you've got a few days to get hyped up.

You can expect the new State of Play episode to feature plenty of new gameplay footage as well as other game updates. It should run slightly higher than 40 minutes, although they didn't specify exactly how much.

Quite expectedly though, Sony wrote a paragraph on what not to expect, so as to preemptively strike at the inquisitive ones. Ever since the Xbox Series X showcase, fanboys have been running really rampant, so we guess it's a wise move by the company.

"And just to be super clear — there will be no PlayStation Studios updates in Thursday’s episode. There won’t be any updates around hardware, business, preorders, or dates either. On Thursday, our focus is squarely on showcasing some cool upcoming games coming to the broader PlayStation ecosystem. Should be fun!"

Sony also gave an update on PS5 peripherals today, where we've learned that DualShock 4 controllers won't work for PS5 games, although they will work with the supported PS4 games. Or in other words - if your DualSense dies, consider your PS5 a PS4 until you get a new controller.
