id Software Lead Engine Programmer Billy Khan says that Doom Eternal is probably the best game that the studio have ever made. Khan claims that image quality is exceptional, everything runs butter smooth and combat is fluid as silk.
Yesterday, id Software's upcoming brutal shooter Doom Eternal got a brand new gameplay trailer and it's safe to say that fans got pretty excited about it. It has everything you would expect from a Doom trailer - fast-paced combat, brutal takedowns, tons of devastating guns and of course, a lot of heavy music.
And as players wait for the official release, which is coming in a couple of months, id Software Lead Engine Programmer Billy Khan has talked a bit about the technical achievements that Doom Eternal packs. Khan tweeted that Doom Eternal should get everyone excited since it is probably the best game that id Software ever made.
"DOOM Eternal is the best game we have ever made. It is brilliant," Khan tweeted and added that it's well optimised and runs butter smooth. "I cannot wait for everyone to finally play it. It runs butter smooth. The combat is fluid as silk."
Judging from the previous trailers, we have to agree that Doom Eternal indeed looks absolutely stunning. Good optimisation and fluid combat are of course extremely important things for such a fast-paced shooter and hats off to id Software for achieving that.
He added that the engine idTech7 is able to push for so much geometric detail which will result in exceptional image quality or "bonkers" how Khan describes it.
Doom Eternal is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia on 20 March 2020.
