AMD are set to reveal their highly anticipated Ryzen 3000 series at CES 2019. Built on 7nm technology, the new CPUs should bring higher clock speeds, power efficiency and better IPC. Along with new CPUs, AMD could also reveal new Vega GPUs.
With the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 just around the corner, it's no wonder rumours are swirling about regarding exact specifications of AMD's upcoming lineup of Ryzen CPUs and Vega GPUs. AMD already confirmed that president and CEO Dr Lisa Su will present a keynote at this year's CES.
This almost certainly means that Advanced Micro Devices are about to reveal something big and some leaks suggest the company will not only introduce the new products but launch them on the same day too.
Ryzen 3000 processors are of course the next big thing everyone is excited about since AMD shook up the CPU market back in 2017. According to the leaks, AMD will be delivering the Ryzen 9 series, which are 16 core and 32 thread CPUs en route to the desktop market. Such high core count was reserved for Threadripper CPUs but given that Intel released their own i9 series, AMD are probably looking to match the competition.
Leaks also show that the lowest core/thread count on new generation Ryzen will be 6 cores and 12 threads on Ryzen 3 3300, which sounds insane given that just two years ago we had Intel's 4 core CPUs that were considered top of the line for the average desktop user.
For the Ryzen 5 tier, AMD will now offer 8 cores and 16 threads, a core count which was previously reserved for Ryzen 7 CPUs. These products will now offer 12 cores and 24 threads, and the Ryzen 7 3700X which would be AMD's flagship if they didn't decide to add new tier will run at 4.2 GHz with a boost clock up to 5.0 GHz.

Of course, there is no official confirmation on these numbers, but if they turn out to be true, 2019 could become one of the best years for AMD and CPU market in history. It looks like AMD's jump to 7nm technology allowed them to create much higher clock speeds, more than 15 per cent better IPC (Instructions per clock) and all that with great power efficiency.
Additionally, leaks also suggest that AMD could reveal new gaming Vega or Navi GPUs. Earlier we got some reports that confirmed new graphics cards for CES 2019 but these were workstation cards like Vega Frontier. It's probably unlikely that we'll see new gaming cards announced but it wouldn't be that surprising if AMD have something up in their sleeve as Nvidia's new RTX series have been somewhat disappointing and overpriced.
