Fortnite has been constantly evolving to newer heights every year since its release in 2017. The game started out as a Battle Royale mode which has now brought the game to become a hub for different game modes.
Aside from players creating their own game modes, Epic Games is constantly adding official game modes to cater towards different player groups. A large portion of the game's player base is dedicated to arena boxfights using builds.
While the player count has been declining for the past few months, Epic Games is officially adding a new ranked mode, Arenas Boxfights, to shake up the gameplay loop for players. Here's everything you need to know about the new game mode in Fortnite.
New Arenas Boxfights Ranked Mode in Fortnite
Arenas Boxfights ranked mode is dropping in Fortnite on April 9, 2026. Players will compete in a lobby of 16 players (solo) or 8 teams (duos). They'll fight a series of 1v1 or 2v2 rounds back-to-back.
After each round, players are immediately queued into the next, so the key is to win fast. The quicker you finish fights, the more rounds you’ll play and the more chances you’ll have to score points. The first player to win 20 fights in Solo play, or the first team to win 15 in Duos, is the victor.
Arenas also brings new quests. Players can complete them to earn the Builder’s Crest Back Bling and Cracked Blueprint Spray.
Moreover, you can invite your friends or anyone on the Showdown leaderboards to face off in the arena. Send a “1v1 Me” to add them to your party and challenge them to an unranked solo challenge, where the first to seven eliminations wins.
