Starfield is an open-world action RPG developed and published by Bethesda Game Studios — their first entirely new IP in over 25 years. Set in the year 2330, humanity has expanded across the stars and you play as a customisable space explorer who stumbles upon mysterious artefacts tied to a phenomenon beyond human comprehension, drawing you into the orbit of a faction known as Constellation.

As you'd expect from Bethesda, the sheer scale is staggering - over 1,000 planets to visit, deep character builds, and the kind of freeform sandbox roleplay the studio has made its name on. However, the procedurally generated planets drew criticism for feeling sparse and lifeless, and the loading screens between locations undermined the fantasy of seamless space exploration.
