Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is a free-to-play battle royale developed by Infinity Ward and Raven Software and published by Activision, launching alongside Modern Warfare 2 as the next evolution of the massively popular Warzone formula. Built from the ground up rather than patched onto its predecessor, it introduced a new map in Al Mazrah, a revamped Gulag system, circle mechanics that split into multiple zones, and the new DMZ extraction mode.

Reception was mixed — the changes felt bold but divisive, and a vocal portion of the original Warzone community felt alienated by the shift.
