FIFA 21 Next-gen upgrade is officially coming tomorrow, December 4, but it's available right now for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S owners.
A couple of hours ago, people started reporting that they can download and play FIFA 21 Next-gen upgrade one day earlier than the official release (Dec 4). We've checked that right away and can confirm that the FIFA 21 Next-gen free upgrade is available indeed.
It didn't take long for EA Sports to officially confirm this, so you can safely upgrade your FIFA 21.
You can use your PS app or just go to your PS5 store, browse to FIFA 21, and you'll see the option PS5 Free Digital update, click on it and then Download, and voila! FIFA 21 Next-gen upgrade will start downloading, and as soon as it's finished you can start your FIFA 21 Next-gen version.
The same applies to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
So, to clear some things up, because we see that many people are asking this question. No, the upgrade is not available for PS4, or Xbox One consoles, this is a next-gen upgrade only, for next-gen consoles: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Xbox Series X size: 35GB
- PS5 size: 39GB
What about your progress in FIFA 21, will it be available in the Next-gen version? Well, glad you asked:
All progress you make or content you acquire within FIFA 21 Ultimate Team (including players, items, coins, FIFA Points, match record, and leaderboard placement), as well as all progression in VOLTA FOOTBALL will transfer from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 and back, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S and back. Progress within all other modes including Online Seasons, Co-Op Seasons, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, etc. will be specific to the console you are playing on and won't transfer between consoles.
Hurry now and download that Next-gen goodness, and feast your eyes with the new GameCam, so you can see for yourself how good it looks.
