If gamers are afraid of something, it's the signature yellow background that CD Projekt Red uses for CP2077 delay messages on social media. The latest rumour suggests that another one could be coming our way soon.
UPDATE: Good news, everyone! IGN reached out to CD Projekt Red for a comment regarding the latest rumours, and CDPR representative re-confirmed December release date for Cyberpunk 2077.
“As a rule, we don’t comment on rumors or speculation,” a CDPR representative told
IGN in response to a request for a comment
on the latest delay rumors. “But I will confirm we were just taking time to update all of our assets to reflect the new launch date of December 10th.”
So, apparently, CD Projekt Red could delay Cyberpunk 2077 again, and shift the whole release into 2021, according to a 'mysterious group of strangers' from Twitter . Yeah, their name isn't doing them justice, but they did provide some accurate leaks in the past. But they also were wrong in other things, so approach with caution.
At this point, a tweet like this one really isn't surprising anyone, which speaks a lot of how gamers now perceive CDPR and the struggling management and development that unfortunately struck Cyberpunk 2077 - one of the most highly-anticipated games ever.
The last time Cyberpunk 2077 did get delayed, even the devs themselves found out about it at the same time as we all did. What shocked many people was that the game went 'gold', and then was officially delayed.
This would be the fourth time if the delay happens again, as the game was moved from November 19 to December 10 release. The delay really hit a lot of people right in the feels, and the media just kept adding fuel to the fire with the focus on the crunch-time, and outraged gamers were even sending death threats to the devs , so it wouldn't be a surprise if the last delay really shook some things up.
Maybe postponing the release for only 20 days just couldn't cut it. Here's another tweet suggesting that delay could really happen:
The PC and Next-gen (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) versions were ready to launch , apparently, but the team struggled with polishing out the current-gen (PS4 and Xbox One) version of the game, were Xbox One version was running extremely unsatisfactory, which could again be the reason of the coming delay if it ever happens.
Even then, the company was not comfortable with the new release date (December 10), and whether or not is this new leak true, we believe that CDPR guys will make the right decision and do what's best for them, and the game. If it gets delayed until 2021, let's just hope it will be early 2021 with Next-gen upgrades available on day one.
We waited this long, we could wait a bit more.
