Xbox Game Pass appears to be teasing Cyberpunk 2077 as its next big addition

Xbox Game Pass has dropped one of its trademark cryptic email teasers, and this one is absolutely riddled with Cyberpunk 2077 references. Following The Witcher 3's recent addition to the service, it looks like CD Projekt Red's partnership with Microsoft might be going a lot further.

Xbox Game Pass has a habit of teasing upcoming additions through a series of joke "internal emails" sent out by the fictional Melissa McGamepass - and the latest one has sent the internet into a frenzy. Because if you know Cyberpunk 2077, this one is about as subtle as a Mantis Blade to the face.

The email, addressed to "ALL STAFF", contains not one, not two, but three distinct Cyberpunk 2077 nods carefully tucked into the copy. Let's break them down.

First up - "Wake up social team." That's a direct lift from Johnny Silverhand's iconic opening line in Cyberpunk 2077: "Wake up, Samurai. We have a city to burn." Then there's the phrase "breathtaking worlds", a nod to Keanu Reeves' legendary E3 2019 moment when he called a fan "breathtaking" during the game's reveal, which promptly broke the internet.

And finally, buried in the sentence "This latest upcoming addition is gonna be a v good one too" - the bold "V" is the name of Cyberpunk 2077's protagonist. Three references. Zero subtlety. All deliberate.

What gives this tease even more weight is context. Xbox Game Pass recently added The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to its library - CD Projekt Red's other flagship title. So it could be the case of Microsoft making a deal for several CD Projekt Red games on Game Pass including Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077, despite its rocky launch, has since become one of the best-reviewed RPGs of its generation, particularly following the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty expansion. It would certainly be an enormous addition to the service.

No official announcement has been made yet, but if Game Pass's track record of cryptic teasers is anything to go by, Night City may be coming to subscribers very soon.
