GTA Online players recently found their progress reset to zilch and started protesting the actions of Rockstar Games, who happen to have only reset it for those who cheated.
GTA Online is littered with cheaters and while many of them take hte role of "modders", some are cheating with more conventional means. Those conventional means are things like the Bogdan Problem replay spam as well as the apartment glitch. Some are calling the apartment glitch while others are just getting additional money without branding the exploit in any particular way.
In order to perform this, players would need two characters and then perform several character swapping and real estate moves in order to increase their GTA$ balance. At the end of August 2020, Rockstar started dishing out penalties for doing this.
These penalties weren't just your regular bans but players would get to witness the demise of their ill-built empire firsthand. Upon logging in, they would find their character progress to be deleted entirely, which could mean hundreds of hours of gameplay had gone to waste.
Rockstar even announced the penalties would be dished out for this particular form of cheating, offering some closure to those who exploited the bug.
It is debatable whether the players who got additional funds by doing the apartment glitch were supposed to be liable for such punishment since the replays of The Bogdan Problem have been a thing for years now.
Anyway, Rockstar showed no leniency for the time being and those who took part in the apartment exploit found their character progress to be nullified. As you can see in the tweet above, not everyone took the punishment lightly and that is only the tip of the iceberg since
