Digital Sun

Digital Sun is an independent game developer based in Valencia, Spain, founded in 2013 by a team that initially built its skills and financial footing through work-for-hire projects before turning to original IP. The studio is led by CEO Javier Giménez and has grown to around 30 staff. Their debut original game, Moonlighter, launched in May 2018, published by 11 bit studios following a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised over $134,000 against a $40,000 goal. An action RPG blending dungeon exploration with shopkeeping mechanics, Moonlighter earned widespread critical praise and established Digital Sun as one of the more distinctive voices in the European indie scene.

Since Moonlighter, the studio has demonstrated a willingness to work across genres and in partnership with major IP holders. In April 2023, they released The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story in partnership with Riot Forge, an action RPG set in the League of Legends universe starring spell-thief Sylas. In 2024 they self-published Cataclismo, a dark fantasy real-time strategy game combining fortress building with wave defence. Moonlighter 2 is currently in development. Digital Sun has also launched Digital Sun Forge, a dedicated branch focused on co-developing games based on external IPs, reflecting an increasingly broad and commercially ambitious identity for the studio.
