Stellar Blade: Blood Rain
Stellar Blade: Blood Rain is a third-person action-adventure game developed and self-published by Shift Up, announced at Summer Game Fest on 5 June 2026 with an in-engine reveal trailer. A direct sequel to Stellar Blade (2024), it continues the story of the original's universe an unspecified amount of time after the events of that game, introducing a new protagonist named Evie in place of returning heroine Eve.
Platforms and release date have not been confirmed, though Shift Up indicated in investor presentations that the game was targeting a 2027 window before the June 2026 reveal made clear that early development status makes that unlikely. Director Kim Hyung-tae has confirmed the game has been in development for approximately one year with most of the original team returning, and described the art direction as mostly finalised, with the second half of the story and depth of combat still in progress.
Whereas the original Stellar Blade was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment as a PlayStation 5 exclusive before receiving a PC port in June 2025, Blood Rain marks Shift Up's first self-published console title, a deliberate move to reach as broad an audience as possible from day one across both PC and consoles. Combat has been rebuilt around Evie's fighting style, shifting away from Eve's swordplay to a gauntlet-based system built around close-quarters aggression.
The setting is a rain-drenched city, darker in tone than the original, and the game is confirmed to explore themes of transhumanism and AI sentience more deeply than its predecessor. Built on Unreal Engine 5, Blood Rain has been described by Shift Up as taking the series in a bold new direction while remaining grounded in the same universe.
