Sir Daniel's spirit still lives in the first trailer of the MediEvil PS4 remake. Unveiled by Sony chairman Shawn Layden on PlayStation Blog the trailer features a release date and a closer look at some 4K zombie smashing gameplay.

There is no better way to reveal a horror-comedy game than on Halloween. Guys in Sony clearly share the same attitude and that's why we have a first official gameplay trailer and release date for the upcoming remake of PlayStation classic MediEvil. Revealed by Sony chairman Shawn Layden on the PlayStation blog the trailer focuses on comparing some of the action scenes and levels from the original game to the remake version captured on PS4 Pro. MediEvil PS4 remake is set to release sometime in 2019, as shown at the end of the trailer.

The story follows undead knight Dan, accidentally resurrected by his arch nemesis Lord Zarok, 100 years after he met an unfortunate end on the battlefield. Sir Dan's mission is to stop Lord Zarok and his minions on the path of conquering the Kingdom of Gallowmere, the same kingdom he swore to protect. Werewolves, zombies, scarecrows and mace-wielding knights are some of the foes who'll get the chance to taste the steel of your swords.

Sony has been working on the game in collaboration with the Other Ocean Interactive and original development team Guerilla Cambridge. The main goal is to use modern generation hardware while staying true to the original, its design ideas and artistic style.

MediEvil follows the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, and it's been released in celebration of the first appearance on PlayStation 20 years ago. As one of the fan favourites, we hope MediEvil is not the last classic to be remade. More information about the game is expected in the upcoming months.
