Data mining revealed 36 rejected PlayStation Classic games

PlayStation Classic, the whole $99 shebang

PlayStation Classic could have had a different or even a bigger line-up if the recent code dump is to be believed. The data mining showed 36 games that didn't make it to the final release, including Crash Bandicoot and more classics.

Sony may have messed up with the PlayStation Classic lineup, on top of messing up the open source emulator so it performs worse than the original console. In other words, players could enjoy the same games with better performance, without paying $99, but this could likely mean legal issues.

Anyway, a recent code dump derived from data mining revealed 36 games that didn't make it to the final PS Classic release, if the source turns out to be trustworthy. You can check the code dump here, but you can see the full list of games that didn't make it, courtesy of IGN.

Tomb Raider, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Soul Reaver, Medal of Honor, Silent Hill, Collin McRae Rally, GTA 2 and Fighting Force are just a few of the highlight classics that will likely trigger the original PlayStation's fans, since they weren't chosen in the final roster. I know I am, due to the lack of Fighting Force.

SonySony's packaging for PlayStation ClassicPlayStation Classic doesn't seem to be selling that well

Should this data mine and the list prove to be legitimate, Sony may have an even worse reception of PS Classic on their hands than they do already. The sales might improve with the Holiday Season just around the corner, but it remains to be seen whether nostalgia glasses will be enough to make the product appealing to the hardcore fans.

Some users apparently reported that these games are still on the console, but with more and more people fiddling with PS Classic, finding its emulator settings and no solid proof of additional games being hidden, it is highly unlikely.
