Ubisoft has unleashed a new update for their Ghost Recon Wildlands. The latest patch to go live in the game has brought a new game mode for PvP, some new maps and Battle Crates. The newly added loot boxes will feature cosmetic items that'll have "no impact on the weapon stats".

Ghost Recon Wildlands is sporting a free update. The patch titled "Extended Ops" has brought a new PvP mode, new maps and "Icon Costumes".

The new PvP mode is called Extraction and it will offer two options: you'll either take hostages and defend your base or try to save the poor souls. You know, Extraction. If you're the "bad guy" in the scenario, you could probably go and shoot the hostage if a defeat is imminent, but I'm sure the penalty for that is a guaranteed loss. Not sure yet, the blurb just said to get the hostage out "without being killed by the defending team."

Extraction can be played on two maps - Garage and Institute. More maps are coming with the next update. The two maps are available for both Quickplay and Ranked.

Ubisoft took this opportunity to also add Battle Crates "that are designed to offer you an additional and accessible way to complete your cosmetic customization experience, for both the Campaign and Ghost War modes". Yaay. So, all players will get "a gifted Spec Ops Crate and a gifted Ghost War Crate" which are redeemable on the Ubisoft Club. Of course, the new Battle Crates can also be exchanged for 400 Store Credits which are purchased using real money.

Microsoft store currently has the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands - Credit : Base Pack of 800 Store Credits on sale. Lucky.

According to Ubisoft, "Spec Ops Crates contain Epic Weapons, Exotic Weapons, Vehicles and tons of cosmetic items for you to enjoy even more in the whole Campaign mode. Ghost War Crates contain Exotic Weapons (re-skinned versions of weapons already available in the game – no impact on the weapon stats), customization items and an exclusive new line of skins for your character, called Icons."

The pros? You won't have to deal with duplicate items and they will not affect your gameplay. Are you convinced?
