Previously rumoured to be cancelled, Darksiders Warmastered Edition for Wii U, just got a release date. The remastered game launches on 23 May.
And you thought it was cancelled for Wii U.
On the contrary, it will launch fairly soon - 23 May.
Darksiders Warmastered Edition is a re-release of an action game from 2010. The game will retail for £15 and come equipped with a HD resolution update and improved performance.
Darksiders Warmastered Edition was released last year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. There, the game runs in native 1080p and 60 frames per second. The Wii U version will be limited to 30 FPS.
Other improvements the re-release will offer are the doubled texture resolutions, rendering improvements, better shadow quality, and post-processing effects.
Darksiders II, this game's sequel, received a remaster in 2015, by a studio comprised mostly of people who worked on the original. The same year, THQ Nordic revealed in a statement that they are thinking about adding a third game to the series:
"Naturally (and extremely excitedly!), there will be a large-scale project based on Darksiders, but for now it is very important for us to take care of the existing games and make those available to a broader audience,"
"Bringing Darksiders II to current gen was a logical step for us and the team at Gunfire Games know their trade inside-out, so we easily and quickly had lots of ideas that we wanted to realize for this specific edition."
Even though Wii U has a little brother now, and all the attention is directed at the little guy, this game may show that the interest in the console is alive and well.
Cars 3: Driven to Win is also set for a Wii U release, on 13 June.
