Square Enix's Hajime Tabata has recently revealed that they are planning to release four more episodes for Final Fantasy XV. The additional episode will probably go live in 2019. The first episode due out in 2018 will center around Ardyn.

Even though we previously thought that Square Enix has three more episodes for Final Fantasy XV slated for a 2018 release, we got word that this year may not be the end of the line for the title. Game director Hajime Tabata revealed that "there is one thing I need to let everyone know, and that is perhaps it won’t all be out only this year."

Tabata revealed that they have one more - a fourth episode - that's likely going to hit the shelves sometime in 2019. The reason we thought that there are only three episodes left is because Hajime himself told us that is the case last year.

The first episode due out in 2018 will center around Final Fantasy XV’s main antagonist, Ardyn. A continuation of his story was the most requested direction fans wanted the episode to take, when Square Enix asked them in May 2017.

After Ardyn, Luna might end up taking the stage. However, Tabata did suggest that the future DLC packs they release for Final Fantasy XV may move away from the established episodic structure. The reason he gave is that he doesn't believe that that the game’s story can be completed in a creative sense.

"Instead of fussing over 'during 2018,' it’s necessary to ensure a reasonable development period," Tabata said. "We’ve decided to make four episodes through 2019,"
