GTA Online's next update will be nodding slightly in the direction of the developer's past sporting the title Smuggler's Run. The update will be adding some airborne options to the game's contraband transport and delivery content.
The next update for GTA Online titled Smuggler's Run will arrive 29 August 2017 and add customisable aircraft to the game. The new aircraft will be housed in hangars which should also serve as starting points for new smuggling missions. All of this is similar to the previous few updates, adding new grind opportunities.
"Smuggler’s Run opens up the air corridors above Los Santos and Blaine County, providing new business opportunities while introducing a range of planes, choppers and even ultralights as highly viable options for transporting criminal cargo across the state – simultaneously opening up some creative new methods of dispatching any rival gangs along the way", reads the official announcement for the update coming from Rockstar.
Rockstar has also announced that the update will change the way some races work. Races will swap out the players current vehicle to something more suitable for the current segment of a race track with each checkpoint. Sounds a lot like a vehicular triathlon kind of set up.
Aside from these more substantial changes, the update will also add new land based vehicle and additional items here and there.
