Showd0wn is an upcoming multiplayer mode for Watch Dogs 2. It will feature three competetive matches and bring the drone, motocross, and eKart races into the multiplayer realm. Showd0wn will be available for free across all platforms.
Previously planned as a part of the paid-for No Compromise DLC pack, Showd0wn will now be a standalone multiplayer DLC pack.
Showd0wn will feature three competitive matches: Steal the HDD, Doomload, and Erase/Protect the Servers. All modes will be available across "15 distinct locations" which will "flow seamlessly from one to the next".
The game's producer, Kris Young said that there are two main reasons behind their decision to make the multiplayer free. The first one is that they want as much people as possible to play in the multiplayer, for the sake of matchmaking time, quality of the matches themselves, and a better community overall. The second reason is the "we hear you reason" and comes as a response to the requests for more multiplayer content.
The drone, motocross, and eKart races are also getting a multiplayer treatment, complete with leaderboards. You'll be able to "test your high-speed skills against the best the community has to offer."
An all new, randomly appearing, “loot truck” events will challenge the players to "hack an armoured car while fighting off its reinforcements, and smaller additions – including new clothing items and tweaks such as a quick-swap feature for weapons – are rolled into the update as well."
The multiplayer DLC will also bring along a paintball gun, which stuns the enemies, and its addition is aimed at the pacifists who prefer Marcus' non-lethal approach. The gun can also be used to obscure the opponents' screens, by splashing them with paint.
Showd0wn left a hole in the No Compromise DLC, and that hole got patched up with more single-player content. The No Compromise DLC will feature a set of new story missions and it'll be out for PlayStation 4 on 18 April, and PC and Xbox One on 18 May.
The single-player DLC will include some new "ability-granting outfits, vehicles, and nonlethal weapons (Air Shotgun and Taser Sniper Rifle). Single-player time trials that originally weren’t a part of the package will also be featured."
While Showd0wn will roll out for free on 17 April, No Compromise will only be available to those who are prepared to pay for it or own a Season Pass. More free content will be coming in May and June as well.
