Naughty Dog could finally announce the release date for their highly anticipated action-adventure The Last of Us 2 later this month. According to Geoff Keighley, host of the Game Awards, Naughty Dog will host a media event on 24 September.
Naughty Dog's highly anticipated sequel The Last of Us 2 has been the subject of many rumours and leaks over the last couple of months. These rumours were mostly about the game's release date, which is yet to be officially revealed by the developer.
We know from a report from Kotaku's Jason Schreier that The Last of Us 2 was initially planned to release in Autumn 2019 but was pushed back to February 2020. Apparently, Sony did not want to have two exclusives (Death Stranding) releasing so close to each other so they decided to push Naughty Dog's title into 2020. Also, the most recent rumours suggest that May 2020 is the likeliest release window.
Anyway, soon we could get an official release date so we don't have to hold onto these leaks and reports. According to Geoff Keighley, host of the Game Awards, Naughty Dog plan to host a special media event on 24 September 2019 in Los Angeles, California.
The event may finally reveal the release date for The Last of Us 2 but Geoff did not mention what exactly can the press and players expect from this event. That being said, it is very likely that we're getting a release date so you may wanna mark the date if The Last of Us 2 is one of your picks.
Ever since they announced the game, Sony and Naughty Dog have been keeping the details close to their chests, giving us only bits about the game's story and other features. They were very serious with their "It's coming when it's ready" approach and by the looks of it, The Last of Us 2 is nearly there.
The Last of Us 2 will be available only on PlayStation 4. You can find Geoff Keighley's announcement on his official Twitter profile.
