US online retailer Target have revealed the release date of FromSoftware's upcoming title Elden Ring. According to the latest listing, George R.R. Martin/FromSoftware RPG will arrive on 30 June 2020 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Ever since the official announcement back on E3 2019, not a lot has been said about From Software's upcoming RPG Elden Ring. We know that the devs are trying to bring the biggest Souls-like game ever with big open world, unique combat and other, brand new features.
The studio also partnered up with the creator of best-selling book series Game of Thrones - George R.R. Martin - who worked on the story and lore for Elden Ring.
From Software are yet to reveal gameplay or give us additional details about the game such as the release date. However, online retailer Target may have a piece of exclusive information about the game's launch.
On their store, Target listed Elden Ring for Xbox One with a bunch of details about the game, including the exact release date. According to the listing, Elden Ring is scheduled to arrive on 30 June 2020.
The date is just after the world's biggest gaming expo - E3 - and it falls on Tuesday, which is usually a weekday of choice for many AAA publishers. Also, it's possible that From Software plan to ride the E3 2020 hype wave and get some extra sales.
That being said, it's also possible that the date could be just a placeholder. It wouldn't be the first time that online retailers put random dates on product pages.
Another thing to consider when discussing the potential release date is the launch platforms. Elden Ring is confirmed for current-gen consoles, meaning that the game should arrive sometime before the launch of next-gen consoles, which, according to the earlier rumours should arrive sometime in late 2020.
Elden Ring could also arrive in March 2020, since every Souls-like game from From Software including Bloodborne, Sekiro and Dark Souls series (except for the original Dark Souls) launched in March.
You can find Elden Ring product page on Target's online store.
